ADVICE TO CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS

It's a Republic, Sir! If you can keep it!
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has succeeded leading his lemmings to a vote that defeated the “Cut, Cap & Balance” legislation that passed the House with a bi-partisan vote. In a statement that I find utterly astonishing, Reid said “Cut, Cap & Balance” is the “single worst piece of legislation ever to hit the Senate floor. The House Republican "Cut, Cap and Balance" (measure) is now over. It's done, dead," Reid said after the 51-46 vote. Any sane voting American can only conclude that Reid and Reid’s minions opposition to getting this country’s fiscal house in order is not on their agenda.

One can only conclude that the progressives are intentionally putting this country on a glide path to destruction. The House passed a federal budget earlier this year that could have helped avert the current debt ceiling crisis, but Reid, instead, did nothing. The Senate has yet to pass a budget. So, in addition to being reckless, Reid and the Democrat controlled Senate has proven to be irresponsible, as well.

And, what has President Obama done to show his leadership? Besides doing nothing constructive, he continues to insist on tax increases and demagogues the issues with statements like, “We can’t just close our deficit with spending cuts alone. That would mean senior citizens would have to pay a lot more for Medicare, students would have trouble getting education loans, job training programs would be trimmed and there were be “devastating cuts” in medical and clean-energy research.”

I find Obama’s reversal on tax increases perplexing since it was he who proclaimed he would never increase taxes while the economy remains depressed and unemployment remains high. I am finding it increasingly impossible to believe anything the Democrats say; and I am finding it increasingly exacerbating to watch them sabotage the economy, the free market system, and the Constitution.

The Republicans are trying to offer ideas and suggestions to truly address our pending fiscal catastrophe but the Democrats are content to forge dangerously forward with their spending programs, business killing agenda, and re-distribution of wealth fantasy.

It is out of total frustration and fear that I recommend to the Republicans in the House and in the Senate to take no further action. They keep trying to formulate sound public policy but the Democrats, in true Lucy fashion keeps pulling the football away from Charlie Brown after insisting on their sincerity.

No More! Enough is enough! Republicans take notice: Do nothing more! Let Obama, Reid and Pelosi take the lead and offer their solutions; after all, they control a majority of the federal bureaucracy. Let them put forth a plan to fix the economy, reduce unemployment, bring down the deficit, and slash the burdensome $14 trillion going to $16 trillion national debt. Let Obama, Reid and Pelosi either explain how they are going to fix and reform Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid or explain to the American people how retaining all current benefits will survive their pending Armageddon?

In recent polls, 60-70% of the American people favor a balanced budget amendment but Prince Harry and the Democrats said “screw you” we know better. Approximately 53-65% of the American people favor cutting spending while not increasing taxes, but the liberal know-it-all’s respond with a “single-finger” retort. Everybody in Washington, including all of the aforementioned progressives acknowledge that this country’s social entitlement programs need to be overhauled, modernized and reformed but the liberal elite’s continue to demagogue and demonize all of those who legitimately attempt to save them from their ultimate and predictable demise.

Do nothing more, my fellow Republicans. You stepped up; you attempted to engage; and you were once again steamrolled. You are trying “to keep this Republic” as Benjamin Franklin once warned but the entitlement engorged left currently control the voting numbers and the bully pulpit. That is why it is imperative for them to take the lead and explain to all Americans why the Greeks have it right and this “once great land of opportunity” has it wrong.
