THE VIXEN OF VITRIOL

How do you stop a gnat or a mosquito from its natural quest to be annoying and a nuisance? I suppose you could attempt to talk to them and appeal to their sense of fair play but do you really think they will stop doing what their DNA compels them to do? No, the only way to stop the compulsion of gnats and mosquito’s is to swat them dead. Figuratively speaking, that is what Rep. Allen West (R-FL) finally did concerning the much publicized exchange he had with Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL). I was happy to see a Republican finally stand up to the continuous onslaught of political vitriol that the liberal left doles out; but I was not surprised with the Democratic response.

The friction between West and Wasserman Schultz erupted on October 2010 when Wasserman Schultz staged a demonstration at the campaign headquarters of candidate West claiming he wrote a political article disrespecting women. Allen West retired after 20 years of active duty in the U.S. Army attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. During his political campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives and during his short tenure in the House, Allen West has continued to conduct himself as a true military officer and a gentleman.

I find it hard to believe that a former Lt. Colonel in the Army and a current U.S. Representative would disrespect women. He might oppose some woman’s initiatives but is that really being disrespectful?

According to Wasserman Schultz it was and she chose to launch the first attack against Congressman West. Since that time an apparent feud has been brewing between the two. This current episode finds Rep. West on the floor of the House arguing for his colleagues to adopt the Republican sponsored “Cut, Cap and Balance” initiative that tackles the governments out of control spending habits and the looming debt ceiling.

In response, Wasserman Schultz offers no clear cut Democrat alternative but merely chooses to attack Congressman West by saying, "The gentleman from Florida who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries; unbelievable from a member from South Florida," Wasserman Schultz said the bill "slashes Medicaid and critical investments essential to winning the future in favor of protecting tax breaks for big oil, millionaires, and companies who ship American jobs overseas."

Besides the fact that Wasserman Schultz’ allegations are false, her chosen method of debate always involves some type of personal attack or distortion of the truth. Once she made a claim, which was later proven to be false that “her daughter was concerned that someone might shoot her because, in essence, ‘evil Republicans in Florida are introducing an Arizona-style illegal immigration bill.’” Is she inferring that Republicans are trying to incite violence?

Another off-the-wall Wasserman Schultz attack was leveled at state legislatures who were trying to require voters to show identification. Wasserman Schultz claimed that “Republicans want to literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws and literally — and very transparently — block access to the polls to voters who are more likely to vote for Democratic candidates than Republican candidates.” In other words, Republicans are racists and bigots.

In another statement, Ms. Wasserman Schultz proclaimed that “if it were up to the candidates running for president on the Republican side, we would be driving foreign cars.” Do you realize that Ms. Wasserman Schultz herself drives a foreign vehicle?

Other ludicrous and vicious attacks claim that “Republicans would take the people who are younger than 55 today and tell them, ‘You know what? You’re on your own. … We’re going to throw you to the wolves and allow insurance companies to deny you coverage and drop you for pre-existing conditions.’” And, “insisting that Republicans’ move to defund Planned Parenthood and restrict abortion constitutes a “war on women” or that Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to save Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid would be a “death trap for some seniors?”

Wasserman Schultz’ track record of personal attacks and vitriolic behavior is well documented and it was time that someone stood up and took her to task. I am happy that Rep. West did so but I am sorry he was too gentile by calling her "vile, despicable, cowardly and not a lady."

The other odd and curious responses came from fellow woman colleagues of Wasserman Schultz. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) noted that West’s remarks came on the anniversary of the first women’s rights convention in Seneca Falls, N.Y., 73 years ago, saying “it’s ladylike to stand up and speak for what you believe.” Apparently, it is OK for Wasserman Schultz to stand up and “speak for what you believe” but it is not appropriate for Rep. West to do so.

Then there was Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) who laments, “I’m disappointed and I believe that ladies should never be called unladylike for participating as a woman in a man’s world.” Where was the show of support by Maloney and Jackson Lee towards woman’s issues when MSNBC’s Chris Matthews himself insulted GOP Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, by calling her a "a screamer, and in many cases pretty close to a nut case?"

Where was the criticism when MSNBC’s Ed Schultz “went a bridge too far when he called conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham a right wing slut during one of his on air rants?” These are merely a handful of the insults and lies perpetrated by the liberal left. I won’t even go into all of the brutal attacks hurled at former Governor and Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The blatant silence by Maloney, Jackson Lee, the National Organization of Woman and others demonstrates the lefts values and principles as being totally and absolutely hypocritical, dishonest and disingenuous. That’s why they need to be slapped down and slapped down hard.

It was not a mistake when the Democratic Party through its Democratic National Committee elected Debbie Wasserman Schultz as their spokes-person. She was the perfect choice. She has no ideas to offer; she’s well versed in the dictionary of hateful rhetoric; and she revels in the limelight of deceit and that is why I dub her Vixen of Vitriol for the Democratic Party.
